Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Receives Support

The Bahay Nakpil-Bautista was declared a National Historical Landmark by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) on August 25, 2011.

On 2014, the Bahay will reach its 100th year.

In consonance with its new status and with the approach of its centennial year, a revitalization program was launched on October 21, 2011 with the Bahay Nakpil-Bautista Foundation Inc. entering into an agreement with Architect Michael F. Manalo, Project Director of the Escuela Taller Intramuros, for a pilot project covering the repainting of the anteroom (caida) area of the house.

As an architect, it is such a stupendous experience to see this architecturally significant historical site. I’ve been there quite a few times and each visit is such a treat! Thanks to the unceasing enthusiasm of Arch. Joel V. Rico who constantly shares his consuming passion for Architecture and History.
